Freight transport to/from Turkey has a specific status among third countries, with the main difference being the trade agreement between Turkey and the EU allowing entities to export or import goods without customs duty obligation. The basis for such trade is the ATR document, allowing the client to claim 0% duty on the shipment.
After contacting edysea and providing the necessary input data, the client receives a price calculation for the transport of their shipment (whether as a full truckload or partial shipment – for import or export), and after accepting the offer, the actual transport planning can begin.
Subsequently, the transport itself can be carried out, during which the client is informed daily about the movement of the shipment.
Info: Email reporting on shipment movement is a highly valued service by edysea clients. Information about the vehicle arriving for loading, its subsequent movement, and the estimated transit or delivery time to Turkey allow the client to plan further operations while having a sense of security and confidence.
Generally, the required documentation includes a transport invoice, packing list, CMR consignment note, and in some cases specific permits or certificates depending on the type of goods. We always inform our clients in advance about any specific documentary requirements for transport to Turkey.
Partial shipment transport via groupage service to/from Turkey is a highly sought-after service by our clients and is experiencing constant growth.
Partial shipments are mostly loaded and consolidated during the working week, and are generally dispatched by groupage vehicles at the end of the week and delivered the following one. Exceptionally, however, lines also depart on other days of the week.
Example: A shipment will be ready for loading in the European part of Istanbul on Tuesday, after transport approval we will pick up the shipment from the client and transport it to the consolidation warehouse, from where it will be dispatched on Friday by groupage capacity.
The greatest advantage is of course the savings on the client’s funds.
On the other hand, the disadvantage of this type of shipment transport is a longer delivery time – but also the fact that the client does not have full control over the shipment and its delivery as it shares the vehicle’s cargo space with other parties and has no direct influence on their shipments and any problems that may arise and thus cause delays in their shipment.
It is not possible to precisely determine the unit price per kilometer for Turkey, as a large number of variables enter into the pricing. Prices vary between express and partial transport, whether it is import or export, and what type of goods is being transported. Tip
In case delivery speed is important to you and you don’t want to be limited by the number of available capacities – don’t schedule the loading of your shipment for Friday, when most capacities are already planned, which automatically limits your options.
The road highway network in Turkey has approximately 4000km and is being intensively expanded. The railway network in the country has over 10,000 km and maritime transport is extremely important for the country, with the most well-known ports being Istanbul, Dardanelles, Trabzon, Samsun, Zonguldak, and Eregli.
